Selma E. Nelson

Selma E. Nelson, age 94, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 21, 2017.

She was born February 17, 1923 in rural Pottawattamie County, Iowa to Wm. Alfred and Minnie (Heithoff) Vorthmann. She graduated from Treynor High School. She married Stanley Nelson and together they owned and operated Nelco Inc.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Nelson; son, Rowan Nelson; and sister, Aurelia Bruning.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Wildgen; daughter-in-law, Judith Nelson; 2 grandchildren, Andrew (Laurie) Nelson and Katherine (Richard) Milton; 4 great grandchildren, Ava, Ryan, Alice and Chloe; brother, Richard Vorthmann; and special extended family, the Lenihans.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 30, 2017, 1 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Home. Inurnment will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
