Sheryll (Sherry) Faye Granger, age 76, passed away peacefully at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital on January 16, 2024, with her children at her side.
Born June 17, 1947, to Forrest and Roberta Granger, Sherry grew up on their family farm in rural Story County, Iowa. She always considered herself an "Ag Lady," thanks to her deep country roots. She loved the land and continued to be a caretaker of her family's legacy.
After graduating from Collins High School, Sherry received her RN from Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines. She moved to Council Bluffs to start her nursing career and worked at hospitals in the Omaha area. Over the course of 35 years, she served others with dignity, respect, and true compassion.
But Sherry's deepest devotion was to her family. She moved to Treynor, Iowa to raise her three children - Shad, Troy and Dana - and provided them with an abundance of love. Together with her husband, Bob Andersen, she taught them to love and serve others, especially those in their small community. The community surrounded the family in return, when Shad was lost in a tragic accident in 1988, his junior year of high school.
Sherry spoke her mind freely and often to anyone who would listen. She was a faithful Christian who didn't know a stranger. She never forgot birthdays or special occasions and loved sharing a good laugh with family and friends. She adored her precious dogs and doted on them constantly, probably with a few too many treats.
Sherry is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Forrest and Roberta Granger, brother Stanley Granger, and son, Shad Granger. She is survived by her devoted children, Troy (Katina) Granger and Dana (Matt) Hughey, seven grandchildren, Grant, Kennedy, Lyla, Ally, Reagan, Shad and Hattie, and her two faithful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Carolina and Daisy.
