Shirley K. Doty

Shirley K. Doty, age 79, of Council Bluffs passed away February 15, 2014. She was born in Bedford, Iowa on March 5, 1934 to the late Harry & Florence (Young) Strubel. Shirley graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1952. She and her husband, Jack Doty had been married for 62 years. She had retired from Qwest in 1995 after 20 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Doty. Shirley is survived by her husband, Jack Doty; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve & Debbie Doty and David & Keli Doty; sister, Julia Brittain; half-sister, Ruth Gentzler; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Thursday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Private family burial will take place that afternoon in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
