Stacy Lee Gibson (July 1, 1964 - July 29, 2024)

Stacy Gibson was born on July 1, 1964, to Glenn "Red" and Barbara (Moore) Gibson in

Jefferson, Iowa. He was the youngest of five kids. Stacy grew up in Scranton, Iowa. He

attended Scranton High School and was being recruited by Ohio State University to play

football; however, he joined the Navy in 1983 and served as a seaman until 1987. He

then joined the Naval Reserves from 1987 to 1989 when he was honorably discharged

from the Navy. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Navy, he enrolled in the

Army from 1989 to 1992 when he was honorably discharged from there. He served

various roles in the Navy and was very proud to serve his country. Some of the places

he was stationed included Hawaii, London, Spain, and the Philippines among many

more.

Stacy married Kelly Harms in 1989. They had two sons, Bryant and Austin. They later

separated in 1995.

He then met the love of his life, Amber Wiese, in 1995 and married her on August 3,

1996. Stacy and Amber had a son and a daughter, Dillon and Hannah. Amber and

Stacy lived in several states throughout the years including Nebraska, Tennessee,

Colorado, and Iowa.

Stacy was known to be a jack of all trades. He was a truck driver for several years,

including some team trucking with his dad, "Red." After his truck driving years, he

worked in various mechanic and maintenance positions for a number of companies.

In his early years, Stacy enjoyed dirt track racing with his brother, Steve. He was known

to all of his loved ones as the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes fan and could tell you anything

and everything about the team from years past and present. His favorite trip that he

ever took was with his wife in 2023 to Horseshoe Stadium in which they enjoyed Ohio

State beating Penn State. He called everyone after that trip to let them know how much

he enjoyed it. Stacy was also up for any argument with his boys about who was better,

Ohio State or the Iowa Hawkeyes - we won't say who won those arguments!

Throughout the years, Stacy was involved with his kids' athletics. He thoroughly enjoyed

spoiling his kids and grandkids with sporting goods as athletics were a passion of his.

Stacy's four granddaughters were his pride and joy. He was able to assume this role in

2016 with the birth of his first granddaughter, with whom he shared the same birthday

with! He then was able to welcome three more granddaughters over the years. He was

truly the BEST grandpa and fully embraced this title. One of his favorite shirts to wear

said "You can't tell me what to do. You are not my granddaughter." He loved seeing

them all do what they love whether it be dancing or playing sports. Stacy also enjoyed it

when the granddaughters played pranks on him. Their latest pranks involved putting ice

down his shirt and making him sit on a whoopie cushion.

Stacy is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Amber; children Bryant (Brittany) Harms

of Odebolt, IA, Austin (Katie) Gibson of Sioux City, IA, Dillon (Haelee Shady) Gibson of

Kansas City, KS, and Hannah Gibson of Council Bluffs, IA; siblings John (Wanda)

Gibson of Lake View, IA, Cindy (Dave) Tiefenthaler of Auburn, IA, Scott (Jodie) Gibson

of Bellevue, NE, and Steve (Jean) Gibson of Carroll, IA; sister-in-law Heather (Dave)

Helland of Winterset, IA; father and mother-in-law Alan and Marsha Wiese of Winterset,

IA; granddaughters Addie and Hayden Gibson, Oaklyn and Slone Harms. He is also

survived by several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

Stacy is preceded in death by his parents "Red" and Barb Gibson, maternal and

paternal grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
