Steven C. Griffis

Steven C. Griffis, age 63 of Council Bluffs passed away March 10, 2013 at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital. He was born in Council Bluffs on May 16, 1949 to the late Jesse & Alice (Jobe) Griffis. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Richelle Swanger; sister, Geraldine Griffis; brothers, Tom Griffis and Dennis Griffis. Steven started his professional career as a cement finisher and was a member of Local #538. Later, he was the chief operating officer for Environmental Salvage. He was a co-founder of Griff-Air and Griff Janitorial. Steven also held over 20 patents relating to environmental safety equipment. Steven and his wife, Beverly were currently the owner/operators of Cohoe Business Center. Steven is survived by his wife, Beverly Griffis to whom he married January 23, 1981; children, Michelle Carrier (Jeff), Diana Sweeney (John), Dawn Swanger, Bob Griffis, Mark Griffis (Chasity), Ricky Griffis (Becky); siblings, Robert Griffis (Lorraine), LaVonda Herrick (Dale), Elvin ?Tobe? Griffis, Gary Griffis (Jere Lee); 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Thursday 10AM at the funeral home. Interment is in the Calhoun Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the funeral home.
