Steven Ralph Exstrom, age 56, passed away at his home on March 8, 2025.
He was born on September 16, 1968, to the late Ralph and Peggy (Burke) Exstrom in Grand Island, NE. Steve graduated from Valley High School with the Class of 1987.
Steve met Angela at the Gretna Bowl where they worked together and became great friends. While Steve did not recognize "royalty" until Valentine's Day in 1995, Angela knew he was "the one." They were married on October 17, 1998, and their adventures began immediately after at Disney World.
Christopher and Catherine soon joined their adventure, bringing love, pride, and chaos. Steve was a stay-at-home dad for his children and a personal chef for his "Princess Bride."
Steve dedicated most of his life to taking care of his family and friends. He showed his love through cooking-smoking meat, baking snickerdoodles, cinnamon rolls, and cheddar jalapeño bread. He had a wry sense of humor, loved The Red Green Show, and was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and LA Rams fan. Though he didn't love to fly, he did love the national parks. He recently enjoyed trips to Denali in Alaska, the five national parks in Utah, the Grand Canyon, and many other adventures.
By far, his favorite place in the whole world was the family cabin at Jeffrey Lake, where he enjoyed grilling, fishing, boating, and tinkering in the garage-just like his dad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sue Exstrom Rolfe and Rodney Exstrom.
Steven is survived by his wife and princess of 25 years, Angela Exstrom; children, Chris Exstrom and Catherine Exstrom; siblings, Deb Exstrom and twin brother Scott (Nancy) Exstrom; siblings-in-law, Mike (Melanie) Rolfe, Erica (Dave) Harrig, and Nicole (Jason) Boker; mother-in-law, Margaret Frederick; father-in-law, Michael (Melvin) Frederick; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family is requesting for everyone to wear your favorite Husker gear or casual attire.
Memorial service will be at the United Faith Community Church in Valley, Nebraska, on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Visitation with Family at 9:00AM and a Celebration of Life at 10:00AM, followed by Luncheon at the Campus in Valley.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made directly to The US National Park Foundation: https://www.nationalparks.org/
