Tara Jo Shannon

Tara Jo Shannon, age 31, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away May 26, 2016. She was born in Mason City, Iowa on November 26, 1984 to Bill and Lori (Norcross) Shannon. Tara graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 2003 and attended UNO and made the deans list there. She also attended Kaplan University, graduating 4.0 suma cum laude and on the Presidents List. She worked at various hospitals and assisted living centers as a CNA and medical assistant. She often volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was an instructor for taekwondo for many years as she was a 4th degree black belt. Tara was preceded in death by her grandfathers, William P. Shannon and Carroll "Nort" Norcross. Tara is survived by her parents, William and Lori Jo Shannon; son, Zachary James Shannon and his father, Paul Anthony Reckinger; Daughter, Ryleigh Jo Shannon; brother, Brian James Shannon and wife, Amanda Sue Shannon; grandmothers, Marilyn Kay Norcross and Ardella Mae Shannon; Nephew, Braylon James Shannon; Niece, Annastyn Sue Shannon, and many other family and friends. Visitation is 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral home. There will be an additional Visitation 4:00-6:00 pm on Monday at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City, IA. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa. Interment will be after service in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa with Luncheon following at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family.
