Thelma was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa to the late James and Estella (Wright) Jenkins. Estella passed away when Thelma was a year old. She was raised by her late father and her dear Aunt Cora his new wife.

Most of her life she resided in Council Bluffs where she raised her family. Upon retirement she and her husband Fred moved to Arizona. She spent her last five years at Skyline Retirement, Omaha, Nebraska.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Bird, Jr.; sisters, Marge Whistler and Jewell Easdale; brother, Glen Jenkins.

She is survived by sons, Gary Bird (Pat) and Bruce Bird (Barbara); daughters, Glenda Hudson (Garlland) and Cindy Kirlin (Harry); brother LaVerne Jenkins (Maxine); 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be during the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Lunch following the service at Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room. Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
