Thomas Collins, age 74, passed away August 29, 2023. He was born April 27, 1949 to George and Dorothy (Pike) Collins in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Tom, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, possessed a gift for connecting with everyone. He had an innate ability to turn strangers into friends effortlessly. Tom's willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need endeared him to all who had the privilege to know him. Passionate about gardening, Tom was a master gardener taking on community projects with other volunteers. He selflessly shared his expertise and knowledge with his community. Beyond his passion for gardening, Tom cherished his time spent with family above all else. He relished in witnessing the accomplishments and milestones of his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and music performances with a proud smile. Tom worked as an accountant for several years. Tom's love and devotion will forever remain a cherished memory etched in the hearts of his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jacquie Stokes and Jan Riepe; brother, George Collins; niece, Kara Riepe; nephew, Greg Collins; and father-in-law, Clifford Dilts.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda (Dilts); son, Matthew (Crystal) Collins; daughter, Megan (David) Myers; 4 grandchildren, Garnet (Adelade) Addams, Nathan Collins, Mason Myers, and Lincoln Myers; mother-in-law, Ruth Dilts; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials in Tom's honor to organizations that cared for him in his final journey.
