Thomas E. Tom Woodson, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, age 76, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away December 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, Jane, family members, and dear sister-in-law, Elly Rensick. Tom was born on June 24, 1938 to Wesley and Cora (Tyree) Woodson in Black Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Black Rock High School with the Class of 1957. He joined the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1960. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1977, specializing in business management. Tom is the former president and CEO of Plectron of Overton, Nebraska. He bought Butler National which later became Woodson Avionics. In 1989 he met Jane, the love of his life, and together they enjoyed the spirit of adventure through travel. At age 56, he retired from the business world with a goal to quit smoking, get healthy, hunt and travel. The couple visited nearly all 50 states, which included memorable trips to Alaska, Montana, New Mexico and Colorado. It was their bucket list trips to South Africa, Canada, Mexico and Brazil that captured his retirement attitude best. His best phrase, You are responsible for your own boredom. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John D. Woodson; sister, Ella A. (Woodson) Wilson and brother-in-law James A. Wilson, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Andrea B. Gonzalez and father-in-law, Leonardo Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, Ken Rensick and Porfie Gonzalez; three sisters-in-law, Ramona Gonzalez, Terry Jo Young and Annette Shelor; and his great niece, Kelsey King. Tom is survived by his wife, Genevieve Jane (Gonzalez) Woodson of Omaha, NE; son, Timothy Eugene Woodson (Lisa) and grandson, Dakota all of Woodstock, IL; daughter, Wendy Woodson-Clark (Joe) and grandchildren, Tori and Michaela all of Chicago, IL; step-daughter, Shannon Callahan (James) and step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Tessa, Tyler, and Trista; step-son, Aaron Nichelson of Omaha, NE; sister, Anita Sue James of Kansa City, KS; brother, James Woodson (Diane) and sisters, Jeanette Crosslin, Nancy Pickney (Fred) and Barbara Tyree all of Black Rock, AR; and many other family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2014 from 1-3 PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa with a memorial service at 3 PM.
