Timothy Allen Junkman of Neola, Iowa passed away at Heritage of Fox Run Memory Services in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 11th, 2023 at the age of 60 after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Joliet, Illinois to the late Eddie and Mavis Junkman. Tim, (or Timmy as he was known) attended Rockwell City Public School where he graduated in 1981. In April 1992 he married JoDee Frederickson and together they raised 3 children, Myckell, Dakota and Kori. Tim returned to school and graduated with his associates degree from Iowa Central Community College in 1994. He was hired as an electronics tech at the Ice House for Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked in Union Pacific's Harriman Dispatch Center and as a Project Supervisor before he returned to the Ice House as manager until his medical retirement in March 2019. Tim loved giving back to his community. He was a volunteer firefighter, EMT and Communications Captain for the Neola Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. Tim shared his love for baseball with his son Dakota and his teammates as a little league coach. Tim was known around "The Circle" where he lived in Neola as the Popsicle Man. He always had Mr. Freezies in his garage freezer to hand out to all the neighborhood kids when he was "working" in his garage. After a winter snowfall he could be found pushing his snowblower around the circle helping everyone clean their driveways. Tim also loved his dogs, Susie and Cal, and riding his Harley.
Tim is survived by his wife of 31 years, JoDee; children, Myckell (Will) Robinson of Grimes, IA, Dakota Junkman (Chelsea Studenski) of St. Paul, MN, Kori and fiance' Stephen Miedema of Dell Rapids, SD.; grandchildren, Liam and Adeline; his mother, Mavis Junkman of Fort Dodge, IA; sister, Vicky (Mike) Roby of Rockwell City, IA; brother, Randy (Myung Ja) of Makakilo, HI; sister, Lisa Collins, Adel, IA and many nieces and nephews and host of other family and friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his father Eddie Junkman and grandparents Ed and Sena Junkman and Harry and Bertha Armstrong. Please direct memorials to the Neola Area Volunteer Fire Department, the Neola Area Community Center, the Alzheimer's Association or Hillcrest Hospice
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Neola Area Volunteer Fire Department, the Neola Area Community Center, the Alzheimer's Association or Hillcrest Hospice.
