Vera E. Carrubba

Vera E. Carrubba, age 98, of Council Bluffs passed away in her home on March 13, 2016. She was born in Council Bluffs on July 25, 1917 to the late Albert and Olga (Ombruni) Mattioli. Vera graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. She and her late husband owned and operated Londons Men Store in South Omaha. Vera was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carrubba and an infant brother, Bobby Mattioli. Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and John Peters; grandchildren, Audra OBrien (Trevor) and Eric Barritt (Erin); great grandchildren, Brenden OBrien, Lexi Barritt, Owen OBrien, Layney Barritt and Katelyn OBrien. Vigil service will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Patricks Catholic Church 223 Harmony Street Council Bluffs, Iowa. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
