Violet Nissen Cronk

Violet Nissen Cronk, age 98, passed away September 26, 2016. She was born August 3, 1918 to John and Ethel Nissen of Norden Nebraska.

Violet worked for the Extension Service and Iowa School for the Deaf for many years. Violet loved crafts and quilt making and made beautiful quilts for many family members. Violet was a member of the Non Denomination’s Church which was a very important part of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lewis Cronk, her parents, sisters - Florence, Phoebe, Dorothy, Freda, a brother, Johnnie; son Richard Allen Cronk and granddaughter Sheryl Maybelle Witkowsky.

Survivors are daughters, Marilyn Kay Rieken, Derby Kansas, Mary Lorene Veldhouse, Caldwell, ID, daughter-in-law, Mary Rita Cronk, Council Bluffs, IA; sons: Howard John Cronk, Sr., (Louise), Council Bluffs, IA; Galen Leroy Cronk, Council Bluffs, IA; sisters: Audrey VanDerlin, Cottage Grove, OR, Alta Jean Hoxeng, Valentine, NE, sister-in-law, Laura Ann Wilson, Springview, NE; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Garner Township Cemetery.
