Virginia E. Fitzsimmons

Virginia E. Fitzsimmons, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away on October 20, 2015 at the Midlands Living Center. She was born November 1, 1922 in Council Bluffs where she grew up, and attended school. She received further education at Iowa Western Community College and was a Librarian at the Glenwood State Hospital School for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Robert Fitzsimmons on September 20, 1940. Robert passed away December 31, 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, Haun C. & Minnie (Thompson) Stewart, husband Robert, brothers, Les & Richard Stewart, sister, Jean Moran, and son-in-law, Roger Funkhauser. She is survived by daughter, Jean Marie Funkhauser, sons, Robert (Sandra) & James (Jennie) Fitzsimmons, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren & 9 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Garner Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
