Vonnie Ervin Tangeman of Council Bluffs, died February 7, 2020 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs. He was born in Laurel, Nebraska on April 2, 1938 to the late Willard and Mabel (Brasch) Tangeman. He graduated from Laurel Public High School in 1956, and went on to receive his undergraduate degree and Masters degree from Nebraska State Teachers College and Wayne State College. He moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa with wife, Nancy Lee (Ebmeier) Tangeman, and became a teacher at ALHS. Mr. Tangeman had been an Industrial Arts teacher for 34 years, retiring in 1996. Vonnie and Nancy celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing.
Vonnie had been a member of the Kanesville Kiwanis Club and a district Advisor for Key Club (80's), Gymnastic Judge (68-72), and a Westfair board member of the Pottawattamie County Fair (78-88) and planted many trees on the premises.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Tangeman; sons, Vincent (Dawn) Tangeman and Scott (Rebecca) Tangeman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter, Beth (Steven) Swain of Redington Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Emily (Ben) Riedinger, Nick (Sara) Tangeman, Alex (Geena) Tangeman, Andy (Jordan) Edison, Stacey (Virginia) Swain, and Madison Swain; and five great grandchildren; brother, Donnie (Lois) Tangeman of Wausa, Nebraska.
The Tangeman Family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Vonnie on Friday, 5/24/24, in the Hoy Kilnoski Community Room from 4pm to 6pm.
A memorial bench has been placed on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail and in lieu of flowers or cards you can donate to the Wabash Trace Nature Trail in his memory. His ashes will be buried in Laurel, NE.
